Mission Statement

The Career Planning and Placement mission is to assist graduates of all programs secure employment in their chosen field of study. The staff provides comprehensive career planning services utilizing appropriate technology to aid students and graduates in developing resumes, cover letters, and learning job search and interviewing skills. Career Planning and Placement professionals initiate and maintain business and industry contacts to improve employer relationships, fill job openings, and expand markets for job development.

DUKE ENERGY GAS TRANSMISSION
ELECTRICAL/CONTROLS TECHNICIAN

DUKE ENERGY, one of the nation's premier energy companies, is currently seeking an Electrical/Controls Technician for our Longview Compressor Station Facility.

In this position, you will maintain automation, controls and electrical equipment to ensure reliability involving equipment such as station control systems, prime mover safety shutdown devices, gas, flame and smoke detectors and surge control systems. You will also perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical distribution equipment, prime movers, prime mover control systems and subsystems. You will be required to calibrate and repair all end devices as well as electrical control and protective systems as well as work with equipment analysts in analysis of performance characteristics of combustion, compression, and vibration associated with prime mover operation.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering or related technical field or equivalent education or training along with at least 2 years' related experience, preferably in the natural gas pipeline and storage industry. Knowledge of statin operating modes, valves, gas paths and prime mover setup is essential, as is a valid driver's license and the ability to perform work activities requiring heavy physical exertion. You must reside or be willing to relocate within 30 miles of our Longview Compressor Station Facility.
