SBIR Commercialization Assistance Program Grants The Small Business Innovation Program (SBIR) is a federal grant program that provides money to small businesses to develop new technologies. The award rate is between 1:5 and 1:8 (one out of between every five and eight proposals submitted are funded). These odds are not bad in the world of grants. This money is required to be put aside by 11 participating federal agencies to include: Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, Department o f Energy, Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Education, NASA, the EPA and the National Science Foundation. Small businesses who want to develop an innovation that will meet the need of one of these agencies can apply for grant funds as these agencies call for proposals. TSTC Marshall can partner with small businesses to help prepare these grants and can also serve as a source for commercialization training for small business owners. Please visit www.sbir.gov for more information. The contact at TSTC is tammy.carver@marshall.tstc.edu. |
