Student Support Services at Texas State Technical College

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) Support Services is dedicated to helping students develop transitional skills to help them achieve success in their academic, career and life goals in an inclusive environment that embraces the diversity of our students and community.

Support Services coordinates awareness events that promote emotional and physical wellness, disability awareness and sensitivity, sexual assault and domestic violence education, and drug and alcohol prevention for the TSTC community.

Support Services also provides referrals for child care. Some locations assist with child care stipends. Services are contingent to meeting the qualifications for each respective campus and child care servicing agency.

Support Services assists students with books from the Lending Library, where available. The office functions as a resource and referral center. Support Services, at some campuses, is the liaison for the Texas Workforce Commission - Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Division of Blind Services (DBS).

Each campus offers services unique to their specific student population. Please see the applicable college personnel on your campus to be directed to resources provided at your location.

Humana Student Assistance Program

A Student Assistance Program (SAP) offers short-term counseling of up to five visits per issue per year to help you and members of your household manage everyday life issues. SAP professionals are available to assist you and your household members manage everyday life issues that can affect you at home and at school.

Work-Life Services offers extensive assistance, information and support to help you achieve a better balance between school, life and family to help make your life easier. You can access information and self-search locators to find resources and providers.

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) pays all costs when you and members of your household use the program. If additional assistance or services are needed, you will receive referrals that consider your preferences, medical plan and financial circumstances.

  • Managing relationships
  • Handling family problems
  • Coping with stress and/or homesickness
  • Decreasing depressive feelings
  • Dealing with fears
  • Handling a crisis
  • Improving communication
  • Learning to be assertive
  • Improving study skills and time management
  • Increasing self-esteem
  • Learning about decision-making
  • Dealing with alcohol and/or drug concerns
