How to Apply

These are the first steps in applying for financial assistance.

1. Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) based on prior year income.
• TSTC Marshall's Federal School Code number is 033965.
• Submit the FAFSA electronically by logging on to www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow the instructions.
• If you prefer to mail the FAFSA to the processing center, forms are available in the TSTC Marshall financial aid office.
• If you wish to apply for a Stafford Loan, please answer "yes" to question 31 on the FAFSA. All loans will be processed via DL Loan application and DL entrance and exit counseling
• You will receive instructions on how to complete the loan process after your loan has been certified.
2. You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail from the Dept. of Education within 2-3 weeks after submitting it electronically, 6-8 weeks if mailed. If you provide your email address, you will receive an email with a link to your SAR within five (5) days.
• Please review the information on the SAR. If there are any errors, contact the financial aid office.
• If your file contains discrepancies or is selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you will be required to submit additional documentation to the TSTC Marshall financial aid office.
3. You must be admitted to TSTC before financial aid will be credited to your account. To be admitted, you must provide the Admissions Office with all required transcripts AND declare a major. Admissions Application
4. Pre-register for classes. If you do, and your financial aid has been processed, it will be credited to your account prior to the start of the term.
5. If you live or plan to live on campus, you must notify the financial aid office.
6. Be aware that the TSTC Business Office may deduct school related charges from any source of financial aid. You must notify them in writing if you do not want miscellaneous charges deducted.
7. Be aware that your financial aid award is subject to adjustment according to the number of credit hours that you are enrolled in as of the official reporting date.
