Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineering Technology graduate, you can look forward to a variety of career opportunities and options. Job responsibilities may include analyzing business requirements/rules, process mapping, leading software design teams, and implementing applications to meet business needs and much more. Software Engineering Technology graduates will hold titles such as Business Analyst, Programmer, Database Developer, Systems Analyst, and IT Specialist.

Employers want technicians who can:

  • Organize information effectively;
  • Generate innovative ideas to solve business problems;
  • Leverage IT assets (computers, network, Internet/Intranet) to provide an effective workflow;
  • Write clear, concise program requirements;
  • Utilize programming skills to solve business problems; and
  • Work independently and in a team setting.

Industry Standards:

In addition to holding a degree from TSTC, graduates can build skills and credibility in the job market by earning industry certifications. These certifications include: Microsoft Certified Application Developer, Microsoft Certified Professional, CIW Programmer Specialist, and many others.
