Welcome Letter

Welcome to the Industrial Technology (ITec) Department and thank you for the opportunity to present an exciting career that is a blend of technologies in the high voltage electric distribution and transmission fields. This program overview is provided to assist you in making an informed decision in your educational career. It is our hope that the Electric Utility Construction & Maintenance will be that choice.

The Electric Utility Construction & Maintenance was developed for those individuals that wish to work for companies that construct and maintain high voltage power delivery systems for commercial and residential customers. This program provides the necessary skills needed to become a highly productive employee for utility and construction companies. This program focuses on student learning the technical and field operations skills necessary to complete the first year of an apprenticeship lineman's program. Safety is tightly followed and taught throughout the curriculum and training exercises.

The program advisory committee and instructors of the Electric Utility Construction & Maintenance program are dedicated professionals. They will provide you with all the necessary educational tools, hands-on experience, and technological skills needed for you to be successful in the power transmission and distribution field. We have partnered with several Electric Utility and Cooperative Electric Companies to insure that the program meet the demands of today's employers. As the demand for electrical energy continues to grow, so will the need for lineman to construct and maintain high voltage power line systems.

If you have any questions or would like to tour the college facilities, please call 903-935-1010. We will be happy to schedule a time to talk with you and discuss your future educational needs.
