Engineering Technologies

The engineering technician works in all phases of construction, production, and an applications approach in producing the end result of a given plan or design. Technicians work with the engineer during the design phase. Through knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering principals and drafting techniques, they see that the design is transformed into a working set of plans and specifications. They provide assistance in organizing the work force, materials, and equipment to construct, operate, maintain, manage and complete an engineering project. They are involved in the improvement of existing products, devices, methods or procedures. Engineering technicians tend to become more specialized in specific sub-fields within an engineering discipline such as drafting of the design plans, monitoring the production or construction process and conducting tests. They oversee or conduct a multitude of test and measurements to verify that the plans and designs of the engineer are properly implemented.
