Welcome Letter

Dear Prospective Student:

Thank you for your interest in Diesel Equipment Technology (DET) at TSTC Marshall. This program overview is provided to assist you in making an informative decision in a Diesel Technology career. It is our hope that DET will be that choice.

The instructors of the DET program are dedicated in providing the necessary educational tools, hands-on experience, and technological skills needed to be successful in the dynamic field of Diesel Equipment Technology. We have partnered with several industries to help insure that our programs meet the demands of today's employers. These companies include Louisiana Machinery, Kelly Ford Tractor, Holt Equipment, Martex Drilling Co., Sabine Mining, and many others.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree program includes classroom and laboratory instruction that focuses on building experience in Engines, Transmissions, Hydraulics, Electrical, Heating-Air conditioning (HVAC), Brakes, Tracks & Undercarriages, Auto-Power Shift & Hydrostatic Transmissions Advanced Hydraulics, Electronic Controls, Advanced Tune-up, Advanced HVAC and Failure Analysis. During the course, industry suppliers provide short specialized certificate training sessions. Some of these certificates include Raybestos Air Brake, Eaton Transmission, and Stemco Seal. DET students also have the opportunity to participate in internships and cooperative programs with many of our industry partners.
