Welcome Letter Dear Prospective Student: Thank you for your interest in the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program. At TSTC Marshall, Computer Aided Drafting is one of the programs within the Enterprise Systems Division. You will find that our programs are made up of the most advanced innovations in manufacturing technology known today. Computer Aided Drafting is the traditional drafting program. TSTC Marshall offers a general drafting program where students normally take mechanical, architectural and civil drafting courses. Whether specializing in Mechanical or Architectural/Civil each student is exposed to all of the applications and is competent to work in either area. All manufacturing of products, building of structures, subdivision layouts, or highway or street projects start with CAD drawings. Employment opportunities abound throughout the country. In fact, conduct an internet search for "CAD Jobs" and see the number of opportunities that exist. In all of our programs the students learn the principles of the program but spend most of their classroom time on the actual machine/computers themselves. While some of the principles may be taught on simulation software, the laboratory equipment, where most of the student's time is spent, are machine/computers and software used in today's fast paced and highly competitive market. What you see in our labs is what you will see when the student goes to work. The faculty have years of field experience in their areas of specialization. Many are members of professional societies and each of them stays abreast of current trends in their fields. If you have questions, would like to tour the department, or the campus please contact us. We will be happy to schedule a personalized tour. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you. I hope to see you soon. Sincerely, |
