Advanced Manufacturing Technology According to the American Electronics Association and NASDAQ, the Texas State Technical College System is one of only four colleges in Texas to rank in the top 50 nation wide for engineering degrees and engineering technology. Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) uses computer generated drawings to manufacture parts and products. AMT is a culmination of using additive technology and powdered material as well as the subtractive process, used in traditional machining, where products are made by removing excess material to form an object. In the AMT program, students will learn 3 distinct phases of manufacturing. Area 1 students will develop a background in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD), which enables them to design and draw products. Area 2 the students will learn the cutting edge technology it takes to go from a drawing or design to a prototype using 3D digital printers. Area 3 students will be able to take a prototype to the manufacturing area for machining of the final product. |
